(1) Sodium Phosphate Dibasic (DSP) is used as a quality improver, an emulsifier, a nutrition enhancer, a fermentation aid and a binder in the food industry.
 
(2) Disodium phosphate (DSP) is used in conjunction with trisodium phosphate in foods and water softening treatment. In foods, Sodium Phosphate Dibasic (DSP) is used to adjust pH. Its presence prevents coagulation in the preparation of condensed milk. Similarly, Disodium phosphate (DSP) is used as an anti-caking additive in powdered products.
 
(3) Sodium Phosphate Dibasic (DSP) is used in desserts and puddings, e.g. Cream of Wheat to quicken cook time, and Jell-O Instant Pudding for thickening. In water treatment, Sodium Phosphate Dibasic (DSP) retards calcium scale formation. Sodium Phosphate Dibasic (DSP) is also found in some detergents and cleaning agents.
